Though the exact details on the title are still unknown, more information About Konami's new action game is coming to light. Metal Gear Solid wowed the attendees at E3 even hough all that was shown was a video of in-game action. The movies included with this preview are exactly what was shown at E3. Metal Gear was one of the better titles on the NES, and followed the adventures of Solid Snake, a hero who would use a variety of weapons and gadgets to accomplish covert military actions. A next generation update of the classic title was a natural, but looking at the movies of Metal Gear Solid, it is easy to see that Konami did not simply update an old title with newer graphics. Instead, they made a whole new game that is both visually stunning and technically advanced. Even in the short amount of footage seen, the game utilizes many of the PlayStation's best graphics techniques. One particularly eye-catching scene is shown in one of the included quicktime movies. In the scene, Solid Snake does battle with a Predator-like enemy called Liquid Snake. This nearly invisible character is animated with eye-popping special effects in real-time. The development team has already been working on the title for more than a year now. The director of the game was part of the original Metal Gear team, and has directed several other Konami titles.
